Well guys, it's time to put the intake on and am having second thoughts on my intake. It's the gmpp 12366573 ( http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=NAL-12366573&autoview=sku ). My second thought is to use the edelbrock rpm air gap manifold ( http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL-7516&autoview=sku ) I have the gmpp manifold sitting here and it's brand new. I'm sure i can get around 150.00 for mine but the would put me out near another 100.00. Is it worth it, or is the gmpp manifold as good? I am again out of my territory here, i'm used to running single plane manifolds. Thanks

I don't know much about the GMPP intake, but the RPM air gap would probably work very well in your combo.

Guys, aren't they the same manifold like Carl said?
Maybe the runners are the basic hi rise but runners are seperated from engine heat on Airgap . Also compare top view of intake runners of each, Airgap seems to be longer, I notice this on front two top runners of both.

The RPM Airgap is my personal favorite dual plane. It worked as well on my slightly warmed 307 as it did on my 11:1 400. Plenty of bottom end and plenty of upper RPM.

Wether you want to switch is up to you. You could sell the GM intake and apply that money to the Air Gap. Or you could stick with the GM for now and apply the time and money to something else.

Carl is correct. I just went to Summits site and the gmpp intake is a spitting image of the rpm (non airgap)manifold. The rpm rpm airgap does seem to have a slightly raised runner and it has the cutout in the plenum just under the carb. I believe this may fake the motor into thinking it has more plenum area. Seems like a better intake. I don't want to do this twice so maybe the rpm airgap is worth the cash. The gmpp intake being made by edelbrock leads me to believe the fast burn heads i have are acually e tecs? They also look very similar.

Doug.....The Fastburns are 210 runners and the E-TECS are 170's and 200's so I dont think they are the same. What about just cutting down the plenum diveder??? Do you have 1.6's rockers or 1.5's. I think if you have 1.5's I rather spend the money on them than the intake.
Either way you can go wrong with the GM or Eddy.

6d9. I think edelbrock did make the fast burns. Don't quote me on that but i am pretty sure. If you look at the e tecs the port design on the 200's are VERY similar. As far as my rockers, i bought a set of comp pro magnum 1.52 which puts the lift on my cam @ 527 which is borderline on the fast burn springs max 530 lift. The 1.6's would put me over that. Doug

You could also use what you have with a small spacer.

The GM intake is an edelbrock performer RPM!!! They make if for GM just like Crane makes the roller rockers for GM. I like the GM version because it has bowtie symbols on it. The air gap manifold is probably a little better because of the air gap but in reality it probably does not make that much difference.
