it cranks but will not turn over .
i marked all the wires before i took them off and put them back in there places, got to looking at a haynes manual ,and notice the fireing order
was incorrect ? still a no start condition, and i cant see my writeing on the wires
should i put another distributer in ?
change the wires i plan on doing ,oh ya i put a new ignition coil in ,and still no start
i realy have to get this car running before the snow comes ,
any help would be greatly appreciated ,
Thanks

Theve been the same from the beginning.

clockwise. not CCW. like I do. ALOT.

You got spark? Thats a pretty important piece of the puzzle here. LOL
If no spark at plug the check for voltage at distributor I think for latemodel dizzy's its a full 12 volts. Maybe 9 volts tho. check you manual.

Im watching along with the others...:D

Check the wires for good continuity. Ignition module I would try first....

If it started up and then died, I would swap it out (or the module) if you have no spark. Did you buy the dizzy from one of the chain stores rebuilt? If so, I would see if you can go down and exchange it. Otherwise, you can try replacing the ignition module and pickup coil inside of it.

Maybe one of the connections came loose? These things have the 2 that go to it, then the pig tail connects to the harness. Maybe one came loose.

getting pissed off wont fix the car...(although i completely understand)if you had the car running with the new dizzy and then it quit, the firing order is fine...the timing may be off, but worry about that later...if you still have spark but it wont run, i`d look into the maf sensor...could be the comp doesnt see any air being drawn past the sensor, and wont give the motor any fuel...pull the air intake off, and give her a little shot of eather...(not too much)and see if she`ll pop off...if so, you know you have a fuel problem and not ign...we can go from there when you post back...(the eather is only for test purposes and should be used sparingly)

yes a little squirt of eather will let you know if you arent getting fuel. i would also make sure you didnt knock any connections loose from the maf, tps, air idl control sensors because those would cause it not to run also. Have you checked to see if you might have set any codes? if so use the old paperclip method to check this on the diagnostic plug. your haynes book will tell you about this and the codes

Did you use enough silicone on installing the module. These modules are "particular" when you install them on these distibutors. That's an easy swap/check. Many have installed new modules and not use enough silicone.

Does it crank in the morning (cold) after sitting overnight?

Any codes?

A GM Service Manual is a great tool to have when working on F.I. vehicles. See if you can get one or find a copy online.

Edit: And based on your wiring order question, etc... I'd take the distributor out, remove wires, bring the #1 piston to TDC, and start over from scratch. Plenty of online guides/instructions on how to install distibutor.
