I have a 68 camaro that I am having a front disk brake set installed. The shop called today saying the wheels will not fit now. They are 14" ralleys. I was told by one person that I now have to go to a 15". If I go buy some new 15" ralleys will they work? What size tire do I have to use to keep from rubbing?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Bill, I think its all about back spacing, thats why your Rallys wont fit, they were designed for pads and not disks.

Its not a bigger wheel that you need, its the proper wheel with enough back spacing is what your looking for.

Are your wheels XN coded? If its original Rallys your looking for on E-Bay look here to find out the ones that are compatible with disks:

Wheel codes for OE Camaro rally's are here:

As the guys noted, if it is an OE style brake kit a properly coded 14 inch rally should fit. If it is an aftermarket kit, and/or a "big brake kit", then you may need to look at 15 inch (or bigger) rims.

What brake kit are you using?

it's aftermarket and my mechanic says its a good set that I bought. The co. I bought from told me they don't recommend the spacing but rather go to 15".
What size 15's do I need that won't rub?

I was told today that you can add a spacer on the wheel but I don't know how think of a spacer. Anyone every heard of that?

Hey Bill, if you are looking to buy 15" ralley's I have four of them I just took off my 69. They come complete with the trim ring, hub cap and tires with plenty of tread. Let me know if you're interested.

(Moderators, if this post violates the rules I apologize)

Thanks Carbo. You can send me price and pic. to brickyard02camaro@yahoo.com if you want to and I will consider but honestly I would wonder about s hipping cost to East TN.

My mechanic says his Dad told him he could put spacers in and the same wheels and I agreed to find out how think they would have to be. Anyone experianced this?

so is there no one out there that can advise on spacers

When I bought my 69 it had 1/4 inch spacers on it and also had a bit of the caliper ground off. I replaced the wheels from 14 inch to 15 inch as I didn't feel good about the spacers. I also think the car just looks better with 15 inch wheels.
