Once again, thanks everybody,
and cheby2, this is Southernpolyurethanes (SPI) Universal clearcoat.
the base is pro-spray. I'm going to let it sit a few days before i touch it just to let all the solvents out, i hosed on the clear.. :)
But i'm going do a lot of sanding to get the best finish we can.. Last one i did i started sanding with 800. not sure what i'm going to do on this one.. probably the same..

yeah, customers choice, which is fine, it should look good when it all comes together, only reason i don't like the top is because of the color change. with this color i think it would look better being all orange, but that is only my opinion. If we all restored them the same this would get boring in no time.

Oh please, the job you are doing is spectacular. If they all looked that good it certainly wouldn't be boring.

It's like saying if all women looked like Charlize Theron, it would be boring? I'd like to take a shot at that one.

Well i sprayed 3 coats of black and then just cleared over them, this clear has a high solids rating so there will be enough there to sand the edge down.
Another way to do it would be to clear it, then sand everything down with 400 grit and then clear again, That's called a flow coat, and will give the best finish.

what brand of primer did you use?
Spi epoxy, which was the black and then i used the white for a sealer.
Clausen Company, which was the Z-Chrome, which was the poly fill primer
Spi Turbo 2k, which is the grey primer

Why are you using 800 grit paper , was it that rough?
I always use 800, it's so much faster this way, but more importantly it helps remove urethane peel. The 800 knocks down dirt and peel very quickly. then i hit it with 1200. and usually i'll just go right to 3000 from here, but this time i did 1500 then the 3000.
I use to just do 2000 all the way through but believe it or not this way is much much faster. i probably have 5 hrs into sanding the whole car.

my favorite method is to start with 400, hit it with a little 500, then spray 2 coats of ms clear.. now that is a awesome look..
that is the method that would get used on some of the high end builds like a ridler contender or something of that nature, it's more work but well worth it.
