The car is a fully restored (frame off) car. I Don't think it was an original SS and don't know if it was originally a big block.

Currently has SS trim. A fresh 454, but badged on the car & air cleaner as a 396. Power Brakes, Black interior, Fresh paint with the thick hood & trunk stripes, and Vintage Air A/C. 4 Speed Tranny, 12 bolt Muncie rear end.

The car looks really clean and looks pretty much like a stock 396 big block would have looked.

What's your guess on it's value? Can't really find anything similar with completed eBay transactions that match this car. Where else do you look to determine values for a 69 Camaro?

As far as I know there isn't a place you can go to get the value. You have to have alot of knowledge of the car and of the current market and go from there. You could find a comparible and see what it goes for. From your description of the cowl hood I'd say you don't have alot of experience with a 1st gen Camaro. Might be a good idea if you have someone with experience look at it for/with you. Pictures go along way in determining value but doesn't compare to actually going over the car with a fine tooth comb and doing your home work on how it was originally built.

$44K is a little high. I would say $33-$36K

44K is WAY high as is 33-36K.

I have sold a bunch of cars as you described, and with todays market the way it is I see between 22-25k depending on color combo/desirability . Sure it may seem to do more on Ebay but thats not real money and usually takes 2-4 times before someone actually HAS THE MONEY and takes it. Just check the completed listing section of Ebay.................... Its a joke.

22-25k for a frame off restored big block 69 Camaro. Even if its not a true SS. That is way low. If you have a car like that and want to sell it to me for 23k. Consider it sold. Easily worth 30k+. The time and money it takes to do a frame off restored car..... Im not being a jerk but i cant see how you could look at those pics and say a car like that is worth low 20s.

Dan,
I have talked to this guys several times on the phone when I was looking for a '69.
Seems like he does a ton of clones. Heck one time he was selling a '69 Z-28 RS with the Super Sport package. I mean I was laughing as he tried to explain the car. He makes claims that he was a head tech at a Chevrolet dealer in '69 yet he calls Z-28 stripes SS stripes. For that kind of money you can buy a nice documented mint condition RS/SS small block car with all of the options. The real thing is always going to hold it's value. Clones will always be clones. On another twist i was at a swap meet
on Sunday and a guy was selling a plain jane '69 327 auto that needed total redo. It was full of bondo and it was $19,500. Also a guy had a bar stool with a chevy 350 under it mounted onto some kind of crazy lawnmower frame and called it a Bubba Hoss.
He wanted $12,500 with a straight face. It's all what you want and are willing to pay. I would get a appraised value on the car and everything checked. And make sure everything works for that kind of money.

Thanks for the feedback. I still haven't gotten the trim tag codes, so I don't know what options were originally in the car. I doubt it was an original A/C car...they would install the Vintage Air system if I were to buy it.

Also, it doesn't have power steering currently, so I doubt it had it back when it was new.

The deal would include a trade for my Cobra replica and some cash, but I don't want to give my car away only to find that the Camaro isn't worth close to what I should get in an outright sale of my car.

How would I find a local appraiser who really knows what to look for in a restored Camaro?

I bought this one for 26k 454 clone Th 400 12Bolt posi 355 gear It 2 was a frame off restoration

When did you buy that car for 26k? Looks to me like you got a good deal.. Beautiful car!! From everything ive seen and worked on a frame off restored car is minimum a $30,000 project. Unless i suppose you can do every piece of work yourself and buy the car right to begin with.

dan, those cobra replica cars are worth some good money too. unless it is really rough or incomplete it should probably be a stright up trade. copy for copy. do you have any pics of your cobra?

oh yeah, welcome to the board. i was up your way last week. (my mom lives in tamarac)

Here's a link to pics and details of my car.
http://bellsouthpwp.net/f/u/funbnme/Cobra4Sale.htm

It's in fantastic shape and the engine only has about 800 or so miles on the rebuild. It's wicked fast too. I put an ad here in the Trades section of the classifieds. If you know anyone interested in a trade or straight purchase, feel free to pass the link along to them.

I took some better pictures over the weekend, so I'm going to update my ad tonight. Better light so you can see the condition & color better.

I bought it september of 06.I did nothing to this car it was bought completed.I must say it was one very nice job the underbody still looks new. came with an all new interior as well

Don't confuse "cost to build" with "value!"

There's no guarantee that a car is worth at least what you have in it. More times than not, the opposite is true.
No doubt.. i completely understand that. Case in point i have waaaay more into my car than its worth or what i could sell it for. But..that car to me still looks like its worth 30k. 44k??..no way.
