I'm still on the fence as to what I'm doing engine wise this spring. I 'm wondering where the GM Performance crate engines are made? I'm still considering a ZZ383 (part#12498772).

Are these made in Mexico? (Not that that's bad;))

I think all the 350 blocks these days are cast in Mexico -- they all have "Hecho en Mexico" cast into them. Not sure where they put them together.

I point this out because there may be a difference between where the block is cast and where the engine is assembled.

My Crate 350 i bought ready to run ...pan to carb. While the block block says "hencho en mexico" The paperwork said it was assembled in Defiance, Ohio...it was allso shipped direct to me through summit racing from there

Eagle and Scat stuff is made in China?!?!?!

Yep. Machined locally from what I am told, but all cast/forged in China.
Makes you proud huh? :p

It's just the big business' cashing-in on slave labor rates at the expense of our own labor, and us trying to maintain our standard of living that bug me.

.. and the quality of most of the stuff that comes out of that country in particular.

A union wage has been good to me for 31 yrs ,yes the world has to grow ,but its not growing to benifit the 3 rd world people only to coorprate pockets and exploit the 3 rd world people ,I do my best to stay away from overseas made products, but any more sometimes you just don't have a choice, coorprate rape has gone that far ,I would not want to be 25 these days for nothing ,I have 2 girls I am going to do my best for ,and am sure I will half to help ,even with a 4 yr degree not going to garrentee your not going to make the wages ,some will say (I am)your overpaid ,but I tell them ,just remember when you get on that airplane ,you want a skilled person putting that thing together RIGHT....its not a KIA ,or HYUNDAI ,of whatever flavor you like....Happy Motoring:yes:

All Gen 1 iron small-blocks are cast and machined in Mexico, and have been for the last ten years; there is no remaining small-block tooling in the U.S. since Flint V-8 closed in 1997. The small-block tooling from Tonawanda was transferred to Mexico the same year.

:beers:

If the USA keeps eliminating its manufacturing capability, we are up the creek if we have a serious war. As it is, we help build the economy and war machine of communist china. They steal from us, spy on us, and sell weapons to terrorists. And many of the products we get from them (and other countries) are of inferior quality to what we used to make.

Politics and war concerns aside... It's just very bad economic sense to out-source anywhere, anything that can easily be produced "at home".

-especially to countries that don't have the same standard of living as ourselves. We'd have to live in cardboard boxes to compete with their labor rates.
