I've been looking at some Air Shears on Ebay and some are going fairly cheap. I've never used one before, but for cutting out floor pans or cutting out patch pieces in body panels are they any good. Should I stick with cutting disks and a cut off tool which I've been using? I've also seen air body saws ( sawz all type). Anybody use either of these tools and like them?

Thanks

Thanks DOUG G

I'm trying to figure out if they are worth buying. I know on my regular electric Milwaukee sawz all, it shakes the heck out of anything and is hard to keep a semi straight cut. Are the air body saws any better at stability.

Thanks

The little air saws will wander on you, have you thought about electric shears. I know there was a few times the little air saw came in handy, but on the workbench I use the electric shears when ever I can, no dust and dirt with them.

The air saws shake a lot and run VERY high strokes per minute. This tends to cook the blades, making them dull fairly quickly. I've got a Harbor Freight air mini air saw and their blades are not very tough. I'd like to try it with a lower air pressure and better blade.

The air shear that cuts out a narrow strip of metal is pretty nice on flat straight cuts, but anything curved or in a tight area would be tough.

Thanks everyone

Sounds like if I can get one really cheap off ebay or whatever it might be nice to have them around for an occasional need, but stick to the cut off disks for most everything else. Just wanted to make sure I was not passing up something that would make work a lot easier.

Thanks

I bought a $40 one at Cummins Tool. I think it works very well. Cuts straight and fast, just make sure to keep the blade supports tight or they'll dull quicker.

Also, it came with two heads.

It'll cut up to 18 guage, 16 is a no go.

Air Hammer with fork is good but I find I use an Air Grinder with a Metallic Disc or Jig Saw with a Fine Metallic Blade most times. What I have used is either an Air or Electric Di-Grinder with them small metal disc mounted on a 1/4" shaft. It really cuts accurate with out distorting or warping skin panels. The Air Nibbler or Shear whatever you want to call it just occupies the tool chest most times.
