I was wondering who makes the best quality reproduction windshield and back glass molding sets?
Also how do they LOOK and FIT compared to the originals?
Ricks has a windshield set that sells for about $240.00. Any Good?
I was going to use my originals but like usual they are so beat up that I can't fix them.
Thanks

IMHO, Moldings fall into three classes-

Corvex- Decent looking when installed, but a bit flimsy, and the fit is about 80%

"Premium" moldings- Thicker, with slightly better fit,but at a premium price

Original GM- The best out there, but not for the faint of wallet. Many of the moldings for the cars are still available through GM parts direct. From what I recall, the rear glass vertical moldings are out of production, but the others should be there under restoration parts.

try and find original gm...I went the aftermarket way and ended up sending it all back...bob is right....the corvex...very thin...won't follow the the window very skinny and bends and I couldn't get them to stay on the clips....my opinion...but if the origoinals arnt available to you...repos have to be used..good luck

What about the flush mount kit that uses rubber seals, I've seen these in camaro performers mag from a company who's name I cant think of rite now but they put the 67 to 69 body's on the newer floor pan and suspension I have been thinking of going this route but need more info.
Any thought's on this from any one.
Bob

Hi All
I wanted to "Kick" this one Up Again as I will be needing a Front Widshield Moulding Set for my 69 Coupe - I did not get any Front Widshield Mouldings when I bought the Car thru this Team Camaro Site like 16 years ago so Reworking it back to it's beauty is not an option.

And this Post is like 6 years old I think, so I was wondering if any of the manufactures for the Replacement Mouldings have improved their Quality and fit issues or look for an Original GM set ?
Thanks
Timmy

I had to find a lot of the outer bright trim and ended up looking on ebay a lot, I got lucky and a guy was selling a bundle of trim, I bought it and it contained the parts I was missing. it was all used GM stuff, some scuffs and small dents but nothing a few hours of filing/sanding/polishing could not fix.

Try and go down this route, I got a few parts from Ricks but ended up not using them because they were too thin and not the right shape when compared to the GM parts I did have.

I would always stick with original trim, the fit and quality is far superior. Be aware though that working out dents and polishing will not result in the factory brand new appearance, as this was flash-chromed and had a very slight 'blue' to it. But most people would never spot that, and it'll stay clipped on at highway speed.

and FIT compared to the originals?
Fit is NOT an issue.. be it using originals, aftermarket .. whatever the the body builder will, if has the experience, ask u to supply the moldings.. including wheel arch moldings.
The body is shaped to fit, and the glass, when installed height also made to fit...
If one strips an orginal car, one finds lead in the 10" radius of the screen cnrs, across the back under rear window... even where body is made to fit doors in jambs... sometimes in the wheel arches....here the trim is rather forgiving to a point.
