I am using CE J-bolt traction bars, but am using standard u-bolts in place of the j-bolts (which I never liked).

Anyway, these CE bars are big, ugly (see pic) and heavy. I would love to get a set of lighter aluminum bars to reduce unsprung weight and improve appearance.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I have the same type of traction bars you have.
I cut off the front section, installed box aluminum (1/4" wall thickness)tubing inside the exsisting steel tubing.Tried them out & they bent first time I launched pretty hard w/a 4 spd 4:10 rear gears & street radials.

I bought some smaller box tubing made of steel slid inside the existing steel box tubing & used a couple of large bolts, works fine & gave me a little more ground clearance towards the front.

Steve, thanks for the link to the bars - those Lakewood bars (in pic below) look pretty nice. Very lightweight, I'll bet. Not sure how they would affect ride quality, bolting onto the springs like they do....................
