Has any bought are look into buying the set of the 67-69 forged aluminum afx spindles made of 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum that or in the newest Classic Industries they take C5 or C6 brackes and have a one inch drop to them. You can get stock or tall for $699.00 a set and you have to use at least 17" wheels . I could buy three sets from someone else for that price but do you think they are worth buying.
They are on page 286.

Those correct a bunch of suspension problems and accept C5 brakes and use sealed bearing hubs!! The C5 conversion bracket is worth $150.00 the sealed bearings have to worth at least $100.00 Using C5 rotors and having to replace one is very simple and less expensive than the aftermarket rotors for our cars by about $20.00 each and it all reduced unsprung wieght. Your getting about $300.00 in just upgrades from old tech to latest tech. With all of the positives they are a great product if your loking for the ultimate in performance handling for your camaro. If you have a restored stocker that sees only causual driving and cruising I don't think they are a product your going to need.

I will someday own a set of them. Call Tyler at ATS, he is a great guy and tell you what ever you need to know about the products they sell. He will not try to sell you what you don't need or want but if you want your Camaro to handle he's the man with some stuff to get you there.

I guess if you have $700 for a set of spindles, you've got to have them.

I have disc brake spindle(69) on my 67 and I don't have any bump-steer. Now, I don't argue the weight loss point, but I can't remember ever having to correct my steering due to bump-steer. Perhaps I'm lucky. HAHAHA!!!

The other reason would be to build a car with the front suspension camber issues in the first gen F-bodies corrected in a way that is entirely reversible. These spindles and the S&C tall balljoints are the only solutions that do that. If you're modifying a valuable car, that reversibility might be a very nice feature.

Yes you do. You didn't do anything to the vehicle to reduce it, and new factory parts won't correct it.

I have them on my car. Awesome spindles.

Normally a steering correction isn't needed with a vehicle that exhibits major bumpsteer, as usually the wheels toe in or out together. Or, a vehicle experiencing a high lateral load in a turn may feel darty, etc. The vehicle wont just steer left or right when a bump is hit.

Factory geometry on these cars suck, period.

One of the trickest suspension products ever made for early Camaros. Tyler is not beating his chest much here, but I will for him. His R and D was endless, and the investment had to be extreme. The result? A badd *** product! We use them, sell them, everyone is smiley!

I am strongly considering the ATS spindles but am concerned about the availability of "affordable" C5 brake systems. I currently have Baer brakes and want to retain the rear setup and "match" the front. I am very happy with them and would like to use Baer on the front as well if I make the switch. The only C5 Baer brakes I come across are the Eradispeed that are in the neighborhood of $3K. I have seen the TC C5 brakes but I don't know anything about them.

Can anyone shed some light on C5 availability, comments about the TC setup, and possible other solutions?

Regards

I came across Kore3 brake kits. http://www.kore3.com/products.php?cat=11 The prices seem very affordable and the products appear very nice. The calipers look nice, they provide matching rear fittaments for the GM 10/12 bolt axle. Anyone have experience with Kore3?

Regards

What Baer setup do you have now??

I got a screamin' deal on new factory C5 calipers, rotors and brackets. Just had to buy pads and lines. They are really good brakes for the $. The T-classics are the same as the factory C5 stuff.

You can find the used calipers and brackets cheap if you look around and that's your thing.

Yup. This is exactly why I was curious what Baer setup the OP is running.

To the OP... You don't need any type of brake kit with the ATS spindles. Stock C5/6 Corvette calipers bolt directly to the ATS spindles. Also, I am really curious as to which Baer setup you are running. If you are running the Alumasport setup with the two piston PBR calipers, I will let you in on a little secret.... THEY ARE C5 calipers. Touring Classics, KORE3, the Baer Alumasport.... ALL OF THOSE ARE USING THE PBR TWIN PISTON CALIPER.

If you are planning on running the Serious street Baer setup, well those are C4 corvette calipers. Also PBR, with slightly smaller pistons. The Touring Classics Hybrid kit uses these also.

I hope I don't offend anyone, but the ONLY Baer systems worth the coin are the ones using their new mono block caliper. All of their other kits are just using off the shelf PBR Calipers with their logo emblazoned on the face.

Lastly, if I were a first gen owner, you can guarantee that I would have a set of AFX spindles. Beautiful pieces. And the benefits provided are unparalleled.

I believe I have the Track series for the factory disk spindle. They've been on a little while. I have been lurking around a bit trying to determine the best course of action for an upgrade to the Camaro's handling.

Quite a bit of additional reading has led me to the understanding that, as stated, the ATS spindles are the way to go along with a C5 brake upgrade. I really like the Kore3 products (from what I can tell so far) so I will probably ditch the Baer brakes and look elsewhere.

Thanks all...

I don't have factory parts. I replaced the upper arms with SPC adjustable pieces from Savitske along with tall upper ball joints.

That didn't address the bumpsteer. That addressed the camber gain. Unless you relocated where your steering arms attach to your spindle, or lowered the outer tie rod you still have bumpsteer.

Trust me on this one, I know what I'm talking about.
