I have a car by my work today which I can tell is a RS and a convert. It hass SS badging on the fenders under the Ralley Sport emblems and a 350 at the front and a SS grill emblem. However, it has a 10 bolt, no SS hod but cowl induction instead, but has a 4 speed with gauges and a tach in dash. What would confirm if it is a SS. The lady works with my wife and swears it is a SS and has owned it for 20 years. I think someone badged it, but either way it is rare.

If it was an SS, it wouldn't have the Rallysport script on the fender; SS/RS cars wore SS emblems only.

Check it for 28 coils on the hood springs; if it had the heavier SS hood, it should have 28 coils.

It should have a 12-bolt.

Are you buying it? Or just trying to prove to some lady that works with your wife that you know more than she does?

If the Rally Sport script is on the fender, I highly doubt its an SS car. To replace the script with the word 'Camaro' and then SS under it, means filling the script holes and repainting the fender. I doubt anyone would do that to both sides.
Look for the reinforcement plate behind the drivers side rear wheel at about 1 o'clock on the frame rail, if its there and dual exhaust, it "MIGHT" be an SS. If its not there, its NOT an SS. :)

I'll looks for those if I get the chance. I'm always in the market for a camaro and I'm just getting affairs in order if I make an offer.

What does the reinforcement plate behine the rear wheel at 1 O'clock look like, i.e. 6" square plate or rectangle, how thick, etc.

Great info guys. I LOVE THIS SITE AND CAMARO FRIENDS!!

Yep Eric, thanks for the reminder, 69 only on that plate.
