10.5" Clutch on 168 tooth Flywheel?

I ordered a new 10.5 " clutch for my M20 today and now I need to order a flywheel. I'm on a budget. I want to order a 168 tooth (14") flywheel from Northern Auto brand new. They told me my 10.5 " clutch will work with this flywheel. Does anyone see an issue with doing this? I know that the 153 tooth exists but do I need to use that size? I think that my bellhousing will accomodate the 168 tooth. thanks for any help!

Rusty,

If you have the "621" or "383" bellhousing, I think you are fine. The "403" will not work. The starter nose needs to be for the bigger flywheel. There are some large flywheels out there that will only take a small clutch. I used to run one that way but recently switched to a matched small flywheel/small bellhousing setup so, yes it can be done.

I found a 168 tooth flywheel that is drilled for both through NorthernAuto parts. I'm assuming and hoping that it would work well with a 10.5" clutch. thanks for your input!
