I have a 12 bolt 355 Posi traction rear that came with the 68 camaro Conv. I just bought. The rear has rust inside from years of sitting .I'm going to put a TKO-500 5 Spd. in the car and want to use this rearend.

What do you guys recommend I do to the rear end? Will taking it apart and removing the rust be enough? The rear end was totaly rebuilt and left with the cover off.but I want to save it as it was the original rear in the car(Guy could'nt drive a stick and threw the muncie in the dump!!!) and put a 350 THD and a 373 rear in
let me know what you think David

You should get a bearing kit and replace the bearings. These kits come with the bearings, seal, pinion nut, spacer and other parts you will need, but no shims. I don't think you will need the shims, so you don't need to spend the money on them. You will have to keep up with the location of all of the shims when you disassemble it. If you get them mixed up then you will have to get it set up again. Carefully disassemble it and keep up with where everything goes, clean it out well and put it back together exactly the way that it came apart.
