Anyone running 18" wheels on thier 1st Gen? I thought I had made up my mind to go with 17's but now after seeing more and more cars in the mags with 18's (current Super Chevy and Popular Mach.) I am now swinging more towards the 18's. Just wanted to know how you felt about your 18's good and bad?

Thanks for any input.

I'm running Z06/c5 17s on the front and 18s on the back. One nice thing is the bottom shock mount fits inside of the rim so its no longer a problem. I get mixed reviews but most people come back and say they like em

I just took delivery of my 18" Centerline Lazer rims yesterday. (Shipped from Cali) They are very similar to a Z06 wheel. They are 18X8 and 18X9 respectively, and fit and look fantastic. They definitely give a "road race" look to the car, and are not the standard "5-spoke" that EVERYONE has. I will get some pics posted.

On a sidenote, MarkM, I had the exact same issue with my Hotchkis drop springs, car did not sit nearly low enough, removed 1 coil and voila! perfect stance. They really should sell 4" drop over stock height"

Hey Guys thanks for the input. I am planning on getting the American Torq-Thrust II's LIKE EVERYONE ELSE because they look the best on 1st gen F-body's. Edelbrock also has a Similar model called 409 but I don't see 18" sizes on thier webpage. You can get them with a polished finish which I prefer over chrome. These 5 spoke designs keep with the 60's body styles which is why I guess they are so popular.

At first I thought 18's were to big (wagon wheels) but now after seeing a number of early Camaros set with the proper stance, they look "right".

well just my 2 cents.

Hey Guys, Please don't interpret my remarks as derogatory towards TT2's, because I think they look great. Obviously the amount of people who run them is a testament to that, plus they are priced reasonably. I just wanted a different look.

jenndon- Major ego boost comming your way------------> Yeah your car on the cover was the main reason I picked up this months issue of Super Chevy. Those 18" TT2's are the exact rims I have been thinking of going with. Although not quit as wide in the rear cuz I don't want to mini tube. My car and motor (on dyno) are currently at a shop in Riverside (Rubidoux Blvd). When I read your front suspension specs in front I was like "Dude, you got the set up I want"

I've been searching for some nice 18's, but wasnt sure about the difference in fit vs the 17's....... so the same backsapcing and tire sizes apply for the 18's as the 17's ??????

As far as TT2's...... they look great, but the bottom line now is that EVERYONE has them !!!!! Go to a car show and count how many of the cars have the TT2's or Bullit style of wheel. And not just the 1st gen Camaro etc. They look really nice, but when I seem them, its kind of like "oh boy another car with the same wheels".......yawn......

It was just a figure of speech. Wheels like KMC, Enkei, Momo, etc. Some of which in my opinion look kind of ghauty. Some may look good on a Escalade or Denali, but not on a first gen. But like I said, it was just my opinion.

Who buys them? I don't know, never really took a survey on it,

I have a friend that put $3200 worth of Budnik 18"x 8" & 18" x 9.5" polished wheels on his 67 RS convetible. They look awsome, but I found a very similar set of American Eagle style 212's for $199 each. With wheels & and the same tires as his, mounted & balanced, I will be looking at less than $1500.

my cars the orange one on the cover of SuperChevy...

I have 18x10 in the rear with 5.5"bs and a 295/35/18 tire. I had to mini tub and use a narrowed rear end.

Your car is beautiful! Really nice stance!

But note with those BIG wheels... you'll definatly want big brakes like jenndon has. Stock discs and especially drums look silly with a large open wheel design. IMO

Ghetto, lowrider, tuner and plain old muscle car rims.

I hope one one takes offense at the language b/c I for one don't!

Ghetto to me are the really fancy gold and chrome wires and solid spoked type wheels.

Lowriders run them too, but also others.

Now tuners are a whole great big bunch of different rims. Heck, what a hundred or so styles!!! From small to 20's, cheap KMC's all the way up the ladder!

Good old fashioned muscle car rims are like new TT's, old E-T black centers, original Cragar SS's, Fenton slotted originals, Halibrands, New SS's, Colorado Custom wheels, Ansen Sprint Wire-mag's, and etc...etc...

Oh, almost forgot about plain old deep-dish chrome reverse!!! And don't forget about the cheap, factory Ralley and beauty rings Look!!!

To each his own and Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!

He, He!! That's why I have Mustang "Bullitt's" on my car!! pdq67

PS,. BTW --- They all look good when mounted tastefully!!!

My front rotors are 13" and the rears are 12", I was going to put budnik tillers on but my friend is the VP of American Racing and i couldn't beat the price. I am going to be changing the rims though, prob. Bonniville Speed wheels
