Hi, Im new to the forums, i have a question regarding a stencil stripe kit for a 1967 Camaro ss, does anyone know if these stencils are low Tack, https://www.classicindustries.com/camaro/parts/80006.html
if afraid of getting a stencil that will have a chance to remove the new paint that it is placed upon removal on if it isnt low tack,
any info on which stencil kit to buy, i saw this one on classic industries.
Any help would be mush appreciated

Just over a yr ago I repainted our camro... and decided to add stripes
So on and off did a lot of googling , talking tyo guys at shows in the club, and thru forums here
u will find everything about them in these forums or links off... righ down to things like differenced between assembly factories , changes during production
Stencils , to import are expensive here and when stencil does what ion top of the above and the sentcils dont match many measurements in the AIMS.

After sketching in the under coat, I realized, looking at the trunk, these strips where designed as if a Artist, not a car designer put them on.. then looked vat the hood , same thing... its about blending the strip shapes INTO the curves and highlights of the car... NOT a couple what I call "his and hers" parrell stripes down the middle of the car

Im sure I have posted way back the diamentions I used (???)
but from memory
The rear...at the trunk edge to bottom of window , bascally same as the AIMS.. but the gap between the bottom of the window trim and top of stripe is considerable wider....which i think the factory done
The front I ran the sides of the stripes up the bottom of the raised in the center of the hood...and around the bottom of the raised curve in the grill cowl (this apparently is different to AIMs stencils etc... but how they do it doesnt reflect how an artist would do it....and d0esnt look 'right'
The pinstripe gap at the top of the radius edge of the hood lines and goes around the cowl the same way...
The ends going down over the front edge of the car are damn near spot on to the aims
How we put the strips on:
Car in final under coat....
So hit the parts / panels where the stipes cover with the colour of the stripes
masked out the Stripes basically starting with the straight lines and ' thin' pinstripe masking tape
Then the cnrs, making correct 'eye' mathematics type curve tangent to the straight lines fee hand
Then removed trunk / hood/ cowls painted them and the res of the car doors etc
Cleared coated
Reassemble...
What did notice is with having the cowls . hood, panels with stripes already on it made aligning the painted panels far easier
Would I approach and do it again like that?
Without a blink... even the stuck in the mud 'originality ' guys "wish they did it to theirs.."

All that really matters GM muscle car stripes are unique in the motoring world... no way a "his and hers" like towels hanging in the bathroom.. and done right, with right colour combo, shades.. cant be matched.

OH yeah "shades"
I have gone to deep modern blue u may see on GM Holden Colorados (sure u gys must have simiar in the USA)
But to get a silver that doesnt reflect 'white' on a horozonal surfce, THEN to find one that has a blue tinge....looked at toyota, mazda, etc etc.. ALL that fitted the above requirement have yellow , or green etc but not blue.
SHHHHHH this is a secret....found the correct silver on a Auusie ford falcon in a 2nd hand car sales yard.. pulled the code.. and it was a Indian (as in India) Ford colour...
Made a sample, did dumby spray sadly .. the GM and Ford colour one could not create them better for a match together.

Anyway that may help....
Oh and the stripe and the gap ar different by either 1/16 or 1/32" think the latter , in width....and it matters for the final over all impression to look right.. as it was meant to be that way naturally.
