Okay I picked up this 1968 Camaro. I think it is a Z28. It has the Muncie hole in the fire wall and it is a 4 speed with factory 4 piston disc brakes. Missing the engine and transmission. The good is the rear end is original, BU 1213G.

It has some factory paint on the car with evidence of the Black stripes on the inside of the trunk also the same black stripes on the front cowl. I know the cowl can be replaced but the one in the back is not easy to replace. I have pictures but I do not know how to post them. I will send them to someone to post. Or someone could tell me how to post pictures.

Sounds promising. With the new format you can just drag and drop your pictures to the box below the one you type into.

Frank the dual exhaust hanger enforcement plate is a 69 item only. His 68 would not have it.

Check out the original shocks. The last time the car was on the road in 1977.

Picture of the rear end codes. Not great pictures but you can see the numbers

Just went and checked. Oval exit yes I am going to guess it is 2 1/4 tailpipes.

Build sheet on top of the tank is a 69 LOS thing, not 68.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to look anyway.;) Is a Broadcast sheet the same thing as a "Build" sheet ? Where might one find it on a 68 ?

Without the engine or trans and no docs, he needs to document every bit of evidence he can find. I still say and I know others may disagree, but Jerry's certification is $$$ well spent on a car like this.

Any other pics of the car Weston... overall view, condition, etc ?

John Z can tell you the difference between 'build sheet' and 'broadcast sheet' , the sheet on 69 gas tanks was a 'broadcast sheet' ... there is a difference but my old mind cant recall that difference. I seem to recall some folks with 67 or 68's that have found a broadcast sheet but its very seldom that Ive seen. Some were folded up in trunk on occasion or under the rear seat...just some foggy memories from the last 14 years Ive been in here. :)

All first generation Camaros went down the assembly line with a Chassis Broadcast Copy (CBC) and a Body Broadcast Copy (BBC). Most ended up in the trash or on the factory floor, but some lucky few have found them on top of the trunk, inside the rear seat, above the glove box, in the rear sail panel, etc... but it's fairly rare to find one. Almost impossible to find one from a Norwood car.

More info on the CBC and BBC can be found HERE.

Yes I have contacted Jerry and would like him to check out the Camaro. Just do not know the time frame for that to happen. I know he is very busy and getting to Idaho Falls, Idaho is not a cheap plane flight unless you want to fly to Las Vegas. It is cheaper to fly to Salt Lake Utah and rent a car to drive up here or I go pick him up and then I get to chat with him for four hours. Now that does not sound like a bad deal for me.
What pictures do you guys want?
Weather permitting this weekend I will get a bunch of pictures of the car and post them. It needs fenders and quarters and some floor panels and the standard total restoration. I have a 1968 BB Muncie with the rods and shifter already ( tried to buy the numbers matching BB Camaro but he would not sell it) I found a block that is has the correct cast number and cast date to rebuild. It is a 327 truck block but the numbers are correct and I can get it rebuilt to preform correctly. I will never restamp a block to match the Camaro.

As far as pics; nothing in particular, just an overall view. I was basically curious on the condition...or anything else that may be Z-related. Your description pretty well covers the condition. Was kinda thinking the rust bug didn't bite too bad in ID.... or maybe you picked it up out of state ?

Thanks guys.. and good to see ya back, Ed !

Broadcast sheets - there were two, Chassis and Body Broadcast Sheets, clearly labeled as such. They have boxes with broadcast codes in them. No RPO info.

Buildsheets - different format. The top part has the boxes with broadcast codes, the middle part shows RPO info, and the bottom shows plant and dealer info.

Only broadcast sheets in 1st gens.

Okay, I guess I should clarify what I meant. Its a Chassis Broadcast sheet (I call them build sheets) that is usually only found on top of the gas tank on 1969 Camaros built at the Van Nuys Plant.
For Van Nuys built cars that is the only place I have ever heard a build sheet could be found for 69. 67-68's I guess the guys on the line didn't throw them up on the tank.
Too many stories going around from other car lines and plants of where these have been found.

Later 2nd gen and up Camaros have had them in their seat springs. Now we are going way off topic.

Looks like a real 68 z/28 from the evidence I see. The BU rear and springs plus evidence of the stripes etc pretty much nails it.

Some more pictures of the 1968 Z28. Shows how much work I have to do. Rear bumper you can see the Butternut paint on it. I know bumpers can be changed but just one more thing to check out.
