my motor doesnt have dz block, heads and pistons. It has 1178 crank and factory 302 cam.It been replaced with iron eagle heads with SOM steel rolling rocking arms and mallory forge pistons. There about 200 miles on this rebuilt motor. The rest car is in very good condition all original. Will this hurt the valve of my car?

Hi Steve, in the collector car market original motor, drive-train, options add value to your 1969 Camaro especially a Z/28. So if this car has a non original engine, then the car would be less valuable maybe in the 5K range or more.

The crossram is not "original" as none were ever installed by the factory. It sounds like the engine "ate" a piston and took the block with it.

These 302's were raced and blown up, so not uncommon for the 1178 crank/ DZ 302 block to get damaged beyond repair, so maybe back in the day just get another 350 010 block or whatever, build a motor to get it back on the road and some guys do not care about matching # motors.
