I have a relative that needs some numbers deciphered on his trim tag. The car is a 68 RS/SS matching number 396 car. It has power windows and all the options. The trim tag says --2 for the paint code. I heard that this means the car left the factory in primer and the dealer painted the car however he wanted and there where very few of these cars available, like 10. Can anybody help verify this for me. The color of the car is actually a firebird green color, don't really know the exact color. Thanks, Erik

68 Camaro RS, Built 355, 274 Comp Cam, Sportsman II Heads 200 c.c. 2.02. Ported to Performer RPM Manifold and 1.75" Headers, 1.5 Roller Rockers, 650 Holley, Steel Crank, 4.11 Gears but no posi yet! TH350 tranny w/ shift kit.

It means it was a special order paint car with a Black Vinyl top (2). Special paint could mean anything from a non standard color to stripe delete on a Z28. Anything that deviated from the normal practice. No normal production car ever left the factory in primer, or bare steel.
