Well I have waited a while to post this exciting news as I did not want to post until I officially owned them.

And I am now the owner of (3) 1968 barn find Camaros. One of them is a 1968 SS 396 L78 with 9977 original miles all original drive train and all paper work!

One is a 1968 Corvette Bronze Z28 w/original engine and rear end and one is a 1968 Base model (parts).

I was lucky enough to be able to pick up all 3 of these cars from the same owner today and will be posting more pictures and the "Rest of the story" very soon.:beers:

I’ve had the privilege of viewing some of the detail pictures while Dan was making the purchase. Truly a unique find! The L78 in particular is phenomenal! Very solid car. Great stuff Dan!

I will post story and photos once received from owner. Cars are in a truck on there way from Virginia to California.

L-78
Car was purchased new in 1968 and parked in 1973. Owner put 15 qts of oil in engine when he parked it and has never drove it since. This car was purchased with 4:56 gears from the factory.

Both SS 396 L-78 and Z28 were certified by Jerry MacNeish first week of May 2012.

I found these cars by way of a friend that knew the family friend handling the sale for the widow of the owner.

I have been putting the word out to everyone I meet & know that I was looking for cars for a year or so. And I would say I got very lucky on this find.

I really don't know what to say. But I wanted to get a post in before this thread hits over a thousand responses!
It really is nice to see finds still out there.

"The Rest of the story"

As I had mentioned, I have been telling everyone I meet or know that I was looking for a new project car. I received a call from a friend who knew a person taking care of selling these cars for the widow of the owner.

I was told that someone else was interested in the Z28 and that only the L78 was available (I really wanted the Z28) and that they would send me the contact info for the person representing the owner. A few days later I received the contact info and was also advised that the person that was interested in the Z28 was going in a different direction and I should try and purchase both cars.

I contacted the rep and we were not coming together on the pricing until I was asked if I saw the other blue Camaro in the pictures, I told them I had! They asked me if I could go a little higher if they added this car to the deal! I did and am now the owner of all THREE cars!

68 SS396 L78 Camaro
Purchased new by widows husband in 1968. He ordered it w/4:56 rear end. I have received all original paperwork (Invoice, Purchase Contract, POP, Window Sticker, Owners Manual). When he parked this car in 1973 he put 15 qts. of oil in the engine to preserve it (I am sure it will smoke for a bit). This car is all original except for the fan and a few items (shown) that are to be re-installed.

Jerry MacNeish certified May 2012. All running gear original to car.

68 Z28 Corvette Bronze
I don't have a lot of info on this car except that this car was purchased in approx 1984 and was not driven very much. I am hoping to find some more info once I have it in my hands this week.

Jerry MacNeish Certified May 2012, the only item not original to the car is the trans.

68 Base Camaro
I have no info on this car other than it is a great parts car. My current project (69 Z28) needs a few parts I can use and this paid for the freight + to get it here, saving me to search for original parts or using NOS.

Enjoy, I am sure I will. Goal is to have the L78 at the Camaro Nationals 2014

I am not sure why you are so quick to parts this car out to finish your 69. It looks pretty complete and is part of "The 3 Car Barn Find". Would'nt it be nice to keep as found and use as a driver?

Besides, you may soon be converted to a 68'er and have no use for that 69 Z/28!
