I have a 69 camaro that had a TH350 with a center console. I put a BW Super T-10 in it and cut the hole in the floor in the same location as another 69 that was a factory floor shift. I bought a competition + shifter (part # 391-7438) and the install kit (part # 373-8609). When I tried to bolt the shifter to the mounting plate it is hitting the side of the tunnel and I am still 2" below the holes for the bolts to go into the mounting plate. The top of the mounting plate is only about 1/2" below the tunnel. Tech people from Mr. Gasket said that the shifter and intall kit were as close a match as they show. Is there any remedy for my problem? Also I have 14 x 6 stock ralley wheels and I would like to put some 24560R14 tires on them. Will these tires cause any problem with fender or steering clearance? Thank You For Your Help. David Wright

when i installed my ST10 in my 67 w/ console, i had to open the factory hole in the tunnel about 2" left and 2" back and then the bolt that holds the shifter to the transmission still hit the tunnel, i just cut a small hole for the bolt head to clear, it's covered up by the carpet and the console anyway. looks stock from the outside. In place of my PG I went with a a fine spline mucnie with the three hole tailhousing(like st-10) in my 68 used a small sledge and a crowbar to strech the floor around the shifter. I used the auto bezel in the consel with a leather upper boot and made a stick out of some aluminum rod heating hammering bennding looks good and puts the shifter right where I want it. I got a long speedo cable by cross referance books and ran it around the stock auto routing with a braket i made to hold it up just behind the crossmember

David Wright, The 1969 F-body shifter is unique to itself, if you want the shifter to come up through the console in the correct location, you have to have the correct mounting bracket on the side of the trans. The problem is G.M. and Hurst never made a bracket for a late Muncie or a ST-10 both with a 3 bolt tailhousing. I've had customers ask about this all the time, so I sat down with all the different brackets and designed the bracket to fit Muncie and ST-10 with 3 bolt large output tailhousing. You use the complete 1969 Hurst after-market shifter and install kit. For the Muncie you just substitute my bracket for the Hurst bracket. For the ST-10 you have to use a different reverse lever, Hurst #2142 and put it on backwards. And 2 of the Hurst clips to take up the slack from bolt on slots to studded slots...Hope this helps...Crash
