Deck Block= $150.00
Federal Mogul Cam Bearing= $24.00
Install Cam Bearing= $30.00
Align Hone (Mains) Check= $25.00
Align Hone (Mains) If needed= $135.00 w/n get charge the $25.00 to check.
Tap Front 3 Oil Gallery1/4 NPT= $15.00
Tap Starter Bolt Hole= $30.00

DTL,
A little high in the pricing but not too bad...just had a 350 block done. All of what you had done(no align bore) plus machining for stroker clearance...$490... here in Atlanta.

The thing the made the Bore & Hone so expensive was with deck plate, could have save 90.00 bucks without the deck plate bore & hone.

My machinist charged me a total of $262 Canadian to prep my 400, and it included the whole 9 yards listed above (minus deck plate and final hone) plus freeze plugs, hot tank, and acid flux test. He had a smaller shop, and was highly recommended by the local hot-rod shop. I was tremendously satisfied with the work and service too, which makes the difference. If I was thee, I would check out the smaller guys. They tend to put more pride into their work, and also their cost is generally lower by a large margin.

NOTE: On a side note, he was willing to find me a good block free of charge had the acid flux test revealed that my block was bad. Now THAT is a nice guy! Guess where I am going from now on to get my machining done!

Went a machine shop knows that they are good, and they are always busy, they can afford to lose a customer here and there because if you don't use him.....10 more people will anyway. Know what I mean. It's a bit higher than most places, but to avoid problems...to get it done right...and to have a guy highly recommended, we should all be so lucky.

I also talk to a coulple of people just finish racing at Carolina Dragway, Jackson, SC and they also recommended this guy. BTW all the guys I just ask walking around the track was winner in there race...
I guess I will spend the money with that shop, although I could have found a cheaper deal around town. However I think quality is what count in machine work and thats what he seem to produce.
Thanks

one more thing you should do especialy to a 400 have the block filled with block fill to the bottom of cylinders before honing or boring decking with torque plate. this will keep the siamese cylinders from moving around and make the motor last longer and a lot stronger especialy if its a 4 bolt main, you should also have the steam holes drilled larger an they can then be filled and plugged with a cap that can be machined smooth during decking. eliminating the need for drilled heads. another thought if this will be a external balance 400 have all parts piston rings rods crank fluid blancer and good fly wheel balanced together. also make sure you use the correct oil pump rod not same as other small blocks also get a diamond stripper windage tray and milodon longer main studs. you will have to do some work to make the tray fit the wider mains but its not to hard dont forget the notch for your dipstick. worth the effort especially in a high horse power application good luck also use the better H race bearins.

You should ship those parts up north here and have 'em done.

We pay around the same prices (30/hole, etc) but it's canadian dollars

So for you it'd be a lot less, not sure of the exchange rate, so i can't give you closer figures

But still

cheap!

I just think the price it will cost to ship from Georgia to Cananda will exceed the cost of doing it locally. I just assume the shipping will cost me between $125.00 to $175.00 us dollars one way, so in the long run it would not be benefitial in cost for the machine work and cost for shipping. Please correct me if im wrong...
