For me, the stock location was 16.75 " from bell housing face as a center point. Might try putting in the trans without shifter and mock up from there and see how far to each side? Sorry, I should have said that this was for a first Gen Camaro.

install the console with black plastic shift tunnel onto the hump in the proper place. trace around the inside of the plastic piece. cut with jigsaw. lay your shift boot retainer ring around the hole and mark for the screws. drill.

this works for 69's, not sure about other years, but goes to reason the shifter would be located to the console.

i believe the 67's had a reinforcing ring around their shifter hole. not sure about 68's but i'm sure 69's didn't have one. this ring could be easily fabbed from scrap sheetmetal and spotwelded in place.

a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade works great for cutting the tunnel, just drill some starter holes and go slow.

good luck!!

i have a 69 without console , shifter chrome ring . I would guess that if you locate center under the car tunnel you could go from there then figure your shifter etc. I put a tremac into the same stock hole location using those measurments 16.75 from face of bell housing.. Here is how mine turned out. I got the green car
