Im looking for some help to id a car (1967 Camaro) that was brought to me for some maintenance. Backstory on the car, older gentleman with dementia owns the car. One of the family members asked me to do some maintenance on it (Oil Change, tail shaft seal, oil gauge leak, etc) just to keep it in running condition since it does not get driven. I have had several Camaros over the years but never bothered with originality. I currently have a LS swapped 69 Camaro for reference. I have known this car for about 10 years, never though much about it being a real SS 396 as its not painted a factory color, has lots of chrome, MSD ignition, just didnt fit the part. Once I got the car on the lift I started to notice things about the car that made me start to think it may be real. Single Traction bar on the 12 bolt, still has the 4 speed pedals (swapped to an automatic) and it does have a Big Block in it. I looked at the pad on the engine and it looks to be legit. TO520MQ and the VIN matches the Vin on the car. What are the chances its faked? Not sure why anyone would want to fake it since its not restored back to original. I

Post 3 is correct. Also the VIN stampings on the engine, transmission and the car need to be posted for comparison to other known stampings. The rear axle tube stamping and cast numbers help as well. A lot of fakes are out there.
