Hi all..

So Im having an issue with the rocker area of my 68 SS Camaro. It looks wrong and I cant figure out whats going on.

It looks like the front fender doesnt fit the body lines. I realize theres a little bowing in the bottom of the door but I think theres more going on here than that. My guess is that with the rocker panel moldings missing its just looking weird.

Is it just me or do you guys see the same thing?

Thanks!

The area below the "Coke bottle line" should be painted semi-gloss black, and the moldings installed. Then it will look right.

Edit: If it's an RS, that is. If not, just putting the spear molding on would be an improvment.

Nice car, Joe...where in CA are you?

I agree with Kyvox. Put on the "spear" moldings and it'll look good!

There is a "seam" from the bottom of the door, thru the rear 1/4, but not thru the fender, thats why, without the little chrome spear, it looks weird. The spear sorta camouflages the line.

How many different moulding configurations were there? I have seen a 1 piece that runs the entire length and a 3 piece that follows the body lines.
Mine is the 3 piece:

I have been confused about this for quite awhile just never got around to researching it. Is mine mounted wrong?

There are 3 different style moldings. 67,68,69 nonRS and 69 RS use the one piece spear molding only. 67 RS also uses the spear molding with the addition of the wide chrome at the bottom of the door, fender and quarter panel. 68 RS has the 3 piece segmented spear molding that follows the body line.

Sorry its taken so long to respond. I was going to take a pic, but we got hit with a bit of a storm, just about the same time as I got hit by this friggin' head cold. I only catch a cold about once every 1 1/2 to 2 years, but when I do...its a doozy!
Any way, the chrome strip is under the door opening and the quarter seam, almost right on the edge, maybe 1/8 th inch below and straight ahead to the fender.
