I am restoring a 68RS camaro and have installed a new tail assembly which did not have the cut outs for the RS backup lights. Does anyone know of a pattern I could obtain to mark where these lights need to mounted so I can make the cuts correctly?

Thanks
Dan

Dan,

There is not a pattern that I am aware of but maybe this will help from a past post fron A NORTHEN FRIEND:

"Hello Peter,
I'll try this again, last time my message was lost. 1st of all I hope that you have
the light assemblies or are planning on ordering them before you start this work.
It will make life easier. My lights are installed already and I don't feel like pulling them out. Outside dimensions of the chrome trim is 5" long x 2-3/8" tall. From the nearest edge of the licence plate hole to the ouside of the closest edge of the
chrome trim is 14-3/4". Above the light there is a crease in the panel. The top of
the chrome is 1" down from this. I took the following measurements on the
backside of the panel. The light is mounted through a circular cutout in the panel
- this has a 2" diameter. The two studs that hold the light in place are 2.5"
center to center. The hole on the backside is 1-5/8" from the inside of the frame.

If you take a solid ruler and measure from the bottom of the hole to the tab that
sticks out of the bottom of the panel that measurement is 3-1/4". Hope this
helps. Ask if u need more"

This POST was found by doing a SEARCH on RS backup lights on the FIRST page of Camaros.NET. This will search ALL forums at the same time.

I am Peter the one that Northern Friend originally sent that to. The measurements made it real easy. Keep in mind the more important measurements are the up and down ones. As far as placing them left and right they are centered in the middle of the tail lights. Keeping in mind they are centered under the tail lights will make that measurement that much easier to figure out.
