Don't you think you're uncle will be a little sore if you sell a car that he gave/sold to you at a good deal?

 

Nope, he is downsizing his stable. He promised this car to me many years. Since then I have had numerous camaros. Also since then he has fallen on hard times, many health issues including a stroke. He really doesn't care what I do with it, he was gonna sell to anybody as long he got what he wanted for it. I just had first refusals on it.

I am leaning more towards the pro-touring vibe and I am not sure if I want this car to stray to far from original.

Would love to see pics of the car. The 68 SS/RS 396 cars have always been my favorite of the Camaros, I've owned this one 31 years.

 

It will be a little while before I can get pics. The car is 2 hours away in storage at my mothers house in my hometown. I just really had to get up there this weekend to get the car moved out his garage before I lost it. Too many shadey characters walk through his shop. No telling what we actually with the the car 15 years ago when he got it. He just soild a 67 BB Corvette on thursday before I got up there.

His stroke has really messed his mind and he wants to close up his garage. I think he has 2 Camaros and 1 Nova. I guess one of the Camaros had something to do with Lunati as a test car when they were getting up and running. Maybe before Holley bought them or something?

Anyways, I definetley do not want to cut this car up, it deserve to be brought back somewhat original.

I went up this past weekend and took 100 pics of my new camaro. I want to send somebody some pics of the engine stamping to verify the originality of the stamping. I am 100% sure its real but you guys would know for sure.

I am not sure if I am going to keep it or not. Personally, I prefer something drivable that I can tweak as I go. But the body on this thing is so nice and I am sure it has the original 396 as well.

I have plenty more pics if somebody can help me come up with a value.

...That car sure a is a diamond in the rough...
The VIN matches, ...but a 4+ month span?...04A cowl tag, ...and 0828 on the block?
....very cool car. Is that dark green the original color? (almost looks like '69 Fathom Green,...could be with the -- code...?

 

That has to be Pontiac Verdero Green.
I don't think cruise was available with the BB, probably dealer installed. Cool car.

 

I've seen a 68 BB with cruise; it was back in 1992 and the old guy sweared everything was original. The engine looked like nothing had ever been touched; it was the most original looking unrestored car I had ever seen at the time.
This doesn't prove anything, but thanks for jogging the memory !

 

Its got the seats that need completely redone. They are Black deluxe and it has a perfect dash pad. You can see that in one of the pics. Theres a console there but its in bad shape as well.

Rumor is, this car had a carb fire sometime in the 70's and there are a few signs of that for sure. Then the car was parked after that. My uncle bought it from California in the early 80"s and it sat in his garage since I got it 1 month ago.

I may have missed it, but did you take a picture of the VIN to show the numbers matching on the engine pad?

Neat car! Lot's of rare options, and I agree that the color looks like the Pontiac green. That coincides with the "--" paint code. This will be a really neat project for someone. Wish I had time, money and room for it - it would round out my collection perfectly!

Could be dealer installed, I have the cruise for it. You can see the solinoid on the firewall for it still as well. I have all the parts for cruise in a box.

Curved radiator necks I believe were for COPO's.

There is no way I would turn that car into a protouring car. It needs to be back to original.

 

I am willing to sell to help fund the camaro I really want. I don't plan on cutting it up at all. I want a pro-touring camaro of some kind. I gave up a really nice pro street/ tried to make pro-touring camaro because I needed a back seat. So I want a minitubbed rear for wide tires but still maintain the back seat for my kids.

If anybody knows any cars that are available let me know. I do not want any junk at all. I want a perfect body, floors and paint. I can do motor work and suspension etc.

So, I have the camaro up for sale and got a questioned asked to me that has me stumped. Based on the photos I have provided, the engine has the correct vin that looks completely untouched. But now I am concerned about the engine stamp date versus the dates on the trim tag.

The trim tags reads 04A and the engine stamps reads T0828MY. Thats 4 months apart. Now the trim does have a -- paint code as well. What m I missing here? I do not want to misrepresent anybody on this camaro. But everything looks completely untouched from the factory.

Erik, what's the casting date on the block?

And by the way, that's a little over 7 months, not 4. The engine was assembled before the car so it was assembed in August of 1967. Not the "norm", but not unheard of either.

I think the -- code is for the Pontiac color as I think Kevin mentioned before.

 

I wouldnt be to worried about the engine month versus the body month, a guy i met in Erie a few months ago claimed he worked at the Norwood plant in the mid to late 60's told me that they would pull cars off the assembly line that had some defective parts and repair them and put them back in production as long as months to almost a year later when they could fit them back in the assembly line and correspond with a RPO... Once again how true this is i dont know but i doubt its something worth liieng about?
