The GM power steering fluid (available at all GM dealers) was specifically formulated to operate with the Saginaw power steering pumps. It is the only fluid that is used at factory fill. All of the rubber components that seal the fluid in the GM pumps, gears, and hoses are tested for compatibility with this fluid.

There are many different fluids that have been used with the Saginaw power steering pumps (most with acceptable results.) But the GM fluid is the only one that is continually tested in durability fleets and in the engineering laboratories.
