Hi all,
I've spent several days now, looking at old threads, trying to collect as much info as possible. I need to place the "396" in front of the marker, as well as the "Camaro SS" behind the wheel well.
First let me preface that my 69 is a old race car (not a good candidate for "all-originality" type efforts). BUT, it would be nice to place the emblems back on the fender somewhat "close" to the right place (so as not to be embarrassed at the track). I hit a guard-rail & thus replacing the LH driver-side front fender. I do not trust the {previous owner} RH Pass side emblem placement as a guide). You guys in Restoration Corner are the experts, so thought I would post it here.
I have my AIM reference pages, Mark C's CAD template, etc, and have read all the threads from:
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11339&highlight=fender+template
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=82687&highlight=emblem
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=138722&highlight=69+emblem+fender+location
But in the end, a close approximate placement is all I really need for this drag car. Here is what I've gathered thus far from other threads:
1) "396" by marker:
Placed 2 1/4" from front edge of fender. Resulting in 1/2" from the marker. Centered with the marker. I can determine where the mount post holes need to be drilled from this. Confirm anyone?
2) "Camaro SS":
Lets place the LH "Camaro" emblem first: There are 4 mount posts on this emblem. Based on Mark C's notes, the post at 7 o'clock on the letter "C" is the furthest most fwd post. And that post is 9.1" from the rear door jam edge of the fender. It is also 4.25" down from the ridge on the shadow line. Confirmation requested pls.
The "SS" is beneath the "Camaro" emblem and has two mount posts on each letter - 2 o'clock & 8 o'clock (thereabout on the tips of the S). I'm guessing at centering the "SS" beneath the "Camaro" emblem, and drop it 3/8". Confirm anyone?
Thanks again for understanding this does not need to be exact.
