I'm in the process of trying to replace my rear (very old) air shocks and I ran into a problem I did not expect.
I have a 69 mono rear leaf car that has shock mounts for a 2 bolt T-BAR at the top into the trunk and a Ilet at the bottom that goes into the 2 finger mono spring shock mount.
Does any one know what shock will work with this setup???
I ordered a set of QA1 rear shocks but they came with threaded shaft at the top NOT the T-Bar I needed.

Gonna have to post a pic. Pretty sure all the 69's have a threaded shaft at the top. Rear shocks bolt into an adapter with three holes. Big hole in the middle gets the shock, with the two grommets and the two big washers. The other two holes are for attaching that adapter to the shock tower in the trunk.

Sounds like the previous owner rigged up his air shocks any way he could. You need to get the adaptor the Lynn spoke of. All the aftermarket parts shop carry them.

I am running QA1 single adjust shocks and mine have the threaded bolt in the trunk. I do have lowering 1.5 inch single mono lowring springs as well.

I had to modified my lower shock mount otherwise the shock was self tapping the wheels. Perhaps the 5.5 wheels offset is to blame.

OK, I sorta understand what you all are saying. Sounds like I need to find an adaptor for the trunk mount.
Can someone give me a little more details on the adaptor such as what it looks like and what I ask for when I go to look for it? If you know what site I might look on to find it.
Sorry guys but I'm very new to building this car or any like it. My experience is all in 1927-32 fords, Im very comfortable with them as I have built from frame rails up many times but the newer stuff Im still a newbe on that is if you can call 1969 a newer year car...
Thanks for all your advice

You can use Chevelle shock with the T or just buy the upper shock plates for a camaro or nova might be the same. If you need the 69 Camaro upper shock plates I can sell you a pair.

Bill the 3rd gen Nova has the T upper shock mount, the Camaro is the single post. I can think of several possibilities; one your car was pieced back together with 3rd gen Nova upper shock mounts but more likely is the 1st gen Camaro mount assembly system uses 2 bolts to mount the upper mount the shock bolts to. Look on UPC4 B3 in the '69 AIM to see what it looks like. Sounds like the upper mount assembly is missing on your car and the T mount shocks just happen to fit the bolt holes...

You are correct that is what happened. The Air Shock T top just happened to fit in the 2 holes and the adaptor plate was missing. I purchased new adaptors today and the
QA1 shocks fit just fine now.
This is by no means the first time I have ran across a (other parts used) problem on this car and will not be the last im sure.
The floor pans on the driverside were replaced.. But they just layed them over the old rusted orignal pan and (slag)welded them in place. The passanger side, well they just layed down some tin and Bondoed over it all real nicely then painted the whole floor.
Needless to say I had to just cut out the whole floor from front to trunk and weld in the correct way with all new floor pan sheetmetal. My buddy at the bodyshop couldn't stop laughing , that is till he had to cut out the old mess then he shut up...
