I was approached by a guy at a local cruise night this evening. He was trying sell his '70 Monte Carlo SS454/400TH with A/C. He says it all stock. It was repainted the original color about 10 years ago. He says it has some chicken feet cracks in the hood from the lacquer paint.

If this is a clean car with no signs of rust whats it worth? He would like to get $15,000. What do you think?

I'll get to see it in about a week at another local cruise.

I agree with Mike Montes just don't have the value that Chevelles have.A friend just bought a 70 originally a 402 car with a 454 in it bucket seats console 12 bolt 3.73 posi TH400 white with black interior nice paint solid car for $6500.00.If you do decide to go after it send me a PM their are some things specific to a 454SS car you need to look for.

I love the monte's, but it took almost six months to sell my #'s 70 SS454 Monte. People just don't want em.

Also, plenty of people fake the 402 cars into SS cars. A real SS will have the air ride system, or remnants of one. There should be a valve in front of the gas tank, closest to the pass rear seat. Even if the air ride system breaks, most don't remove the valve, it can be hard to get to.

Some more Monte trivia:

Did you know that on the front grill, where you see the roman helmet, there are roman numerals on top. Each year Monte (at least first gen Monte's) has it's year in roman numerals above the helmet.
