Does anyone know anything that I can do that is easy that will boost the performance of this tranny? I plan on putting in a shift kit, any suggestions on a good one?

I don't think anybody has gotten the 700 to live behind any decent power yet even tho one or two guys are running it successfully!

I would hop up a 200 before the 700 b/c it is flat, a stronger tranny.

I looked into this by contacting the Real Art Carr and he priced me a 200 that would hold like 800hp for my 496 for when I blow my Muncie.

BUT I will say, "pricey" to say the least!

700r4's were used behind a LOT of both hi-po and simply large vehicles, and there were a lot of variations. A 700 for a small block work pickup is very different than one that came out of a mid 90's vette, and different yet from one that came out of a v6 caprice and different from one from a cop car. Best to find out exactly where your trans came form so you know what you are dealing with.

Fitting the governer from a vette is a standard thing to raise shift point rpm's.

In stock form 700's are stronger than 200's. Due mostly to the popularity of high HP 200 equipped buick grand nationals, the aftermarket has developed many stronger parts for the 200, and it's true a full tilt beefed 200 will be stronger than a full tilt beeed 700

I have a 700 R4 in my 69 Yenko Camaro Clone and love it. Tony Eben from US Transmissions in Littleton Colorado sets them up great. He makes many trannys for racers out at Bandimere speedway. He does some tricks to them that make them much more reliable. Good Luck.

the 700r4 got early bullets and related failures because mechanics and (others) didn't bother to educate themselves to cable adjustments and so forth. some 700r4s were offered behind GM's struggling attempts with diesel-powered (light-duty trucks)... sadly. as stated: there were variations of 700r applications. if and when my TH400 fails, I'd lust for that .73 overdrive~gear that my '82 Corvette 700r gives .
