Are these the same bolts that came out of it? If they are then use them as they are.

 

they seem to bottom out though.... isnt that what your trying to avoid?

 

Unscrew bolt, remove cap, install bolt hand tight.
Measure exposed bolt length and will be shorter than the cap length.
