I've got a '95 Z28 that constantly refuses to start when it's wet. I've replaced the coil wire and even replaced a battery. I'm getting loads of current from the coil when I twist the key. What else could it be?

If the coil's sparking, has to have a bad cap or coil.I've seen the cap with a big burn hole in them. Not a cheap cap and rotor,I know neihoff makes them aftermarket.I priced a GM one a year or so ago, seems like 300+$.

Hello there,

This is just a thought. Didn't those 93-95 Lt1's have a problem with water in the cap? I have a 1996 Chevy Camaro and just changed my cap and rotor. My 96 has two openings in the cap that are connected to hoses that run up to my air intake. I beleive they are there to dry out the cap. A friend of mine was having a similar problem with his 94 Z28 so he put the cap for a 1996 on it and just ran the hoses to the air intake. It has been running fine ever since. Hope that helps.

it is a Optispark module.except its in the front of the engine right in front of the waterpump. and the rotor and cap are very thin , or low profile should i say..but I too am learning about these Optispark engines, do they have a shaft like that of the regular cars that turn the rotor for spark , or is that controlled electronically by the photostatic relay inside the assembly housing...?
