Casey thats a very good analogy. Keep in mind, some members are 'warned' in private so you wouldnt know it happened. Then if all of a sudden they are gone, you might wonder why. They were warned in PM. Its not something we relish and it doesnt happen very often either.

Banning someone is not taken as a trivial matter. It's a last resort used when the moderators and administrators ask someone to follow the sites rules. Posting on this site is a granted privlage and each of us agrees to abide by set guidlines. The moderation here is quite open to discuss the rules and hear any concerns others may have but the rules are the rules and everyone agrees to them when they sigh up.

On occasion someone feels they have to challenge the moderation instead of discussing things, when asked to stop they just continue on daring the moderation to inforce the rules and leaving the moderator no recourse.

This is a forum site that is suppose to be a fun place to visit without being harassed. The moderators take on the role of enforcing that so each of you has a pleasant experience and is comfortible no matter what your level of involvement with the Camaro is. The moderators here are just like the rest of you, we are members here too and deserve the same harassment free environment!

The person in question showed no interest in wanting to (for lack of a better discription) "get along", he had a problem with a rule here that I didn't establish but because I enforce it he made me his target. As well since being banned he has continued to undermine the rules of this site by signing up as several different screen names then calling attention to himself.

I have never had a problem with this person but it seems he has a problem with me and has decided to act on it and continues to act on it. I can't see that leading to a return of posting privileges at this point.

For the record, I know DjD personally and consider him a good friend. He is one of the most even keeled people I know, and wouldn't be the type to blacklist someone unless provoked on multiple ocassions. I don't know what blackburb did, but I do know it must have been seriously out of line to piss Dennis off that bad.

Beth was blocked and now Alan. Through email we've talked and neither is too specific but both miss us. That's all I can say.

I guess it is kinda like an establishment. If you get out of line, you are asked to leave.

Is there any mechanism in place to return or once it's done, it's done?
alan
Exactly Alan. But I think it takes far more to come to the point of being asked to leave here than at a concrete establishment.

As for your question...
It depends on the type of ban that's been placed on the member. Bans can be as temporary as a few days, weeks, months... consider them 'time-outs'. Or in extreme cases, it can be permanent.
I can tell you that the number of 'time-outs' FAR outweigh the number of permanent bans.
