Solid roller cams in street cars are not a good combination! the roller bearings in the lifters take a real beating at idle. COMP CAMS has a new series of roller lifters called ENDUREX for street but we have seen the brinnelling ( Flattening ) of the lifter roller bearings in as little a 5000 miles even with this set-up ( on a 10sec BB 496 Chevy ). Stick to a flat tappet cam! The hyraulic rollers do well because they dont take the hammering form the lash like a solid lifter does. I am against hydraulic lifters in a 302 or LT-1 because they ruin the acceleration characteristics of these engines and in a 302 thats all you have going for you. See my other post for thoughts on camshafting a 302.
