I have a CSB 350 with a MSD box and distributor (pn 8361). I thought the distributor was locked out, so I ordered new springs and bushings.

Tonight the parts came and when I took the distributor apart, I found the advance mechanism was frozen, not locked out. What would cause this?? I got the plate to rotate by putting the distributor shaft in the vice and leveraging the plate with a screw driver...a big screw driver.

I did not build the motor as it came with the car.

Is this fixable, or do I need to spend $250 on another distributor? I assume I need a special distributor to go with the MSD ignition box.

Thoughts PLEASE!
I'd just go to the local junkyard and get a used GM distributor. It'll do just fine on 98% of the engines out there, be a ton more reliable, and two tons cheaper.
