. . . it's been covered a bunch of times. But I have a slightly different problem that I can't seem to answer through searching!
First of all, no matter how tight I get the bezel, when I turn the key attempting to start the car, the whole assembly turns. Most of the time, it doesn't "catch" i.e. - I hear a click, but the starter doesn't turn. Then, after fiddling a few times, it'll usually fire up.
I don't want to get stranded, so I decided I needed to replace the ignition switch, and maybe a couple more things. I tried to remove the ignition switch, but the key will not go to accessory position. I've been trying to turn it there for 2 months now, spraying WD40, etc. I just won't go.
So, the question is, is there any way to remove this without ruining the keyed part? Although, I guess it's no big deal since the doors use a different key anyway. Guess I could just get a new key as well. Guess I have to drill it, huh?
Of course, I have bigger problems now anyhow. since it's been 100 degrees here for the past month and a half, I haven't touched the car. Well, now it won't start. Even with starting fluid it just burbled for a second but didn't catch. Sigh. I don't think I'm cut out for this old car thing.
