In restoring a 69 Daytona Yellow/Yellow Houndstooth car that we had for over 25 years, we were able to have an interior dye produced in the correct yellow color that we used to dye the aftermarket yellow seats to the correct color to match the original door panels. It really worked out well and looks so much better than the bright yellow aftermarket stuff.

If anyone is interested, we kept the formula and we will let anyone know where to source the interior dye. Just post interest and I will respond with the suppliers contact information. If there is enough interest, maybe we could set up a group buy. Cost is about $120 to do the whole interior and about $60 to do just the seats plus shipping. Nothing in it for me, just wanted to share what worked great for us.

I had some dye made in Canada but I haven't shot it yet. I have one of those "day glow" aftermarket interiors that needs to be toned down. I'm sure others as well as myself would be interested to hear what you've come up with...Thanks, Joe

The dye is available from Jerry's Paint & Supply, 137 Placerville Drive Placerville, CA 95667, United States, (530) 622-5514. Ask for Cooper and tell him you want the 69 camaro yellow interior dye paint make up for John Cook. That's how the formula is recorded.

I had it supplied in aerosal cans. Two cans covered the door panels, rear side panels and related trim items. Two cans covered the front and rear seats, headrests, seat backs, and trim pieces with enough left for touch-up later. I'm sure it could be supplied as non-aerosal if desired.

I contacted Cooper at Jerry's Paint & Supply, 137 Placerville Drive Placerville, CA 95667, United States, (530) 622-5514 for the yellow dye. He did have John's formula in their computer, but WOULD NOT send it to me because they had no hazmat permit (?). The only way I could get it would be to have someone pick it up at their Placerville store. I live in Colorado, so that was not an option. Any other ideas?
