Interesting car that seems to be wearing its original paint, with the original selling dealer decal on the tail panel. Seems it was hit in 1974 and stored since. I'm not sure it's worth $14k, but if I had the bodyworking talent required to bring this one back I'd think about it....

Now here is an example of someone trying sell a 1st Gen Camaro that might be worth 6-8 grand. If somebody pays that amount for that car they need their head examined. This is exactly why the prices of first Gen Camaros are so high. Look at what it needs just looking at the pics grill, right front fender, driver's door, left & right quarter panels, lower body chrome, once quarters are removed most likely will need outer wheel wells, and trunk drop offs. All new interior. Motor and transmission rebuild.

Wow, I don't think I would pay the asking price, but I wouldn't go that far with it either! If mileage is correct, and it could be bought for a price that would allow room for a decent restoration, it would be a neat car to bring back. Has some nice options, good color combo, and it is very complete - i.e., no driving yourself crazy hunting down expensive, hard-to-find parts.

The ad should say, "Damage is worse than it really looks." This car was involved in a serious accident. If there is a title, it would be a salvage title. If done legally, this would be a complete, intensive, high dollar restoration.

$3k tops. We have seen the build threads here of cars in much worse condition.
If I had a son or daughter wanting to get into the hobby, this may be a good candidate. If I had the space, the tools, and the knowledge to do it. This car appears to be original and worth the effort to totally restore.
As mentioned above, unrestored/unmolested matching number original rs/ss first gens are extremely hard to find.
I've seen people spend endless chunks of money on less significant projects.
It's a great father and son winter (and beyond) project, provided it can be bought for under 3 grand. After looking again, I might even up the anti a few grand. Definitely not $14k.

$14K :noway:
Going to take that in just aftermarket sheet metal, not to include install of all that metal, bodywork, paint.....and then you can look into glass/interior.

Would the car be worth it in the end ? Maybe, but only time would tell.

$3-4K....maybe, title/paperwork dependent.

I don't know where you guys are finding project first gen Camaros for $3-4K but it sure isn't around here. They simply don't exist regardless of condition....

Multi X to you Don.

I'll recount an appraisal I got on my 67rs/ss 4sp tach/gauges convertible years back here in Maryland by an acknowledged expert. Keep in mind this was many years ago, and it's a NOM and trans. He appraised it at 6K. I was flabbergasted. I said if you can find any of this car at 6K I'll buy them all. Of course you couldn't touch my car then for that money, or anything close. And they are getting harder and harder to find.

Having said that, unless you want a documented 67rs/ss hardtop that's been twisterized, you might want to steer clear.

That car looks as original as I has seen with just 26k miles. Its very possible the engine may only need a cleaning and sealed. I bet it will go for 10k anyway.

Last year my car was appraised for 50k and it isn't as optioned as this car. Someone with the body work abilities could come out on this.

Unless you walk into a deal, an all original but rough RS/SS can't be found for $3-4K. The asking price is obviously all the coin.

That car is not a difficult job, not a hard hit, needs typical rust repair and is not intimidating. Don't want to do all the work? Buy a complete jig assembled lower chassis from Muscle Car Metal for $4000 and slap the top half of that car on. When I was in collision, we bought and repaired wrecks from the auction hit a lot harder than that 67. And cars that came in sideswiped like that were commonplace. If the car needs no frame machine work, changing a hit rocker is no different than changing a rotted one. If it needs a yank, big deal, it's done every day and done right.

This is a $1500.00 wreck, the car was trashed long before the side swipe, the broken windshield, torn off vinyl top and rotten floor pan didn't happen at 26k. One side of the trunk has sealer the other side doesn't. Some fool bought this to restore and realized he got screwed.

In our world mileage is a mute point. I don't believe the 26k, and what dose it matter anyway? The car has been through a ruff storage but not through the usual hands on molestations we usually see, and it's a lot more that just a base model.
Sure those body panels are all dented up, but after this kind of storage, the panels would most likely be all rotten anyway. Under those panels you know about half of them will have underlying damage.
So, the buy it now of $12.5k is still way too much for this "survivor". I could see it going for more than what I think it's worth. I guess worth is in the eye of the beholder and a wonderful plan he or she may have for it.
I still say $5k or walk away...
