Has anyone tried to dye their seatbelts? I have black in my 69 and after washing with soap and water and letting them dry, I am considering dyeing them. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Dan 69 LeMans Blue AC PB PS 454

I had some dark blue belts that I tried to make black, no liquid dye, not even "Rit" would work. I found a rattle can cloth dye and it was amazing. I used the SEM vinyl prep on the belts first then hung them and dusted them over and over, it soaked in a lot but the color stuck and the belts stayed soft and ply-able...

Dennis,

Do you think you would every be able to remove it if you wanted in the future without soaking in paint thinner?

My fear in doing that is that I make them better now, but worse in the future. I'm curious on your thoughts. THANKS in advance!

the very best way to restore seatbelt's is to use the rattle can paint/dye it work's terrific , I did mine and the first time they were to light so I put them out in the sun and put on a second coat THAT WAS THE TICKET ,
mine were done last year and at car shows and cruz in a lot of people have comented on how nice the seatbelt webbing color is ,,,
