I have a 1969 Camaro that I'm going to install a 30 over 454 with aluminum heads and a turbo 400. I want to install the engine and trans as 1 unit but my concern is how safe would it be put chains on those aluminum heads with all that weight. So has anyone done this? would it be safe?

I've never had any problems with my L89 and Muncie. Just make sure to use grade 8 bolts and oversized washers so the chain doesn't slip through the bolt heads. Also make sure you bolt the chain down tight. If you have a loose chain (bolt not tight enough), it can screw up the threads in the head.

I installed my aluminum headed 454 bbc and a Tremec TKO 600 together with no problems at all. The cylinder heads are Brodix RaceRites. As Ed has already said, just make sure that you use grade 8 hardware.
