Just received a new pair of Doug's headers # d308 and installed them in my 67camaro with power steering 4 speed. The upper fit is great around the steering box, but the collecter flange touches the floor panel and the reduced doesn't line up. With the collecter by a1/4 inch because of the tranny cross member. I raised the cross member with some nuts between the frame and cross member. and the smaller part of the reduced touches the cross member. I like that this headers sit higher up to give me ground clearance as my last pair would scrape on bumps anyone have these fIt Issues and what did you do, and how much space should be good clearance 1/8 I inch good

Re: headed clearance issues

It sounds if you engine and transmission doesn't have enough slope towards the rear of the car. Try putting a level on the intake manifold where the carburetor sits. If it is sitting level check the angle of the transmission shaft for a downhill slope.

As Doug states the rear of the trans may be to high. Check the height of the trans mount, it may be too tall. There are several posts discussing the mounts in the trans section. And remove those nuts you put under the cross member.

Re: headed clearance issues

the headers give a little. place an object in header as close to the same size as the header collector flange as possible. use slow steady pressure pulling down
Just to add to this advice - Use something like a baseball bat, slipped into the collector and pull down gently !

thanks for the tips, I found a smaller tranny mount which dropped the engine down and give me about 3/8 inch clearance, a little tapping on the tranny crossmember finsh the fit, thanks for the help
