AFR heads are very good. If I had the money, I would get them. What kind of other parts are you running?

I like the Dart Pro 1 myself, but I would not go over 200cc.
The AFR are really good to but I think they cost a little to much.
I have a 350ci and I but 200cc Pro 1 on them and we have build two 434ci sbc that went 5.90 in the 1/8 with them but they were ported heads.

Hope this info helps

I had this same problem a few months ago. i'm building a 383 for my chevelle.
I asked on Team Chevelle, and the votes for AFR outnumbered all others probably 3 to 1.
yes they are expensive. i paid $1400 for my AFR 195's, but after hearing nothing but good, i decided to just suck it up, because i knew i would be happy with them.
i havent run it yet though, so i cant give you a definitive answer.

Or like I said on the heads for a 327 post, you could go with twisted wedge or RPMs. Maybe Victor jrs if your gonna run a stout cam.

Check out some combos here http://www.ryanscarpage.50megs.com/combos.html

Also I was just looking at AFRs site and they got cast iron heads starting at $800. 200 220 or 235cc runners. 200 would be alright for a 383. You might want to give em a call about the raised runner option. Check it out... http://airflowresearch.com/pro_action_ad.htm
