Hey guys,

Im working on my interior and I cant quite figure out how to take the wiper knob out, I have it all disconnected and loosened the ring but I cant get it apart...

Also, I cant get the ignition out. Ive been fiddling with it for quite a while and Im starting to feel retarded because I cant get it out... Once its done, Im gonna sand, primer and repaint the dash. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure the wiper knoib just pulls off, been awhile, could be an allen key, but I don't think so.

To get the ignition switch out, you have to pull the lock cylinder first. Tighten the ring back up, then turn the key to accessory, stick an unbent paper clip in the little hole, and turn the key further to the left and it and the cylinder will pull out, then unscrew the ring.

To get the headlight knob off, there is a little spring loaded pushbutton on the side of the switch. You can see it if the guage carrier is off. Just push the button then pull the knob out, then unscrew the ring.

if you look at the switch assembly, theres a little spring loaded knob on the bottom of it. pull the knob all the way out (so the headlights would be on) Then while push the button and pull the knob and the whole thing should come right out. when you go to put it back together, push the button then push the shaft of the knob back in and thats it.

When you put it back together, make sure you push the button before you put the knob back on... I forgot to do that and had to take the switch apart to get it to work.

Whew===Got it! My finger and thumb got numb from pressing that button; old one came out alright with a strong 'yank'. Replacing the new knob proved alot trickier--as advised--I kept pressing that button but it would not catch. That was up until I noticed how it was sliding freely unattached to the slide switch within; about 1/4" from full depressed mode knob wasn't in contact with the bezel. So push and press that button hard--in she went and I got lights. Last quarter inch did it with a click. Thanks ryry
