Depends really on the look you are after.
2 Pc wheels are double plus your budget, but that is where you have to go to have wheels not every car at every cruise in and car show is wearing....

 

Agreed, with reading what you have done to the car, you definitely don't wanna scrimp on wheels. They really make the look of the car and if you buy a cheaper set that you "kind of" like you'll regret it and end up buying another set a year or so down the road.

I have spent months looking up 2 pc wheels and rushforth is actually very well priced compared to some companies. i ended up going with these:

very similar to the rushforths and were 575 a piece for polished.

I really like the xxxxxx wheels......

I think many people make a basic mistake when choosing wheels....so often wheels are choosen cause look good in a catologe, then when put on the car overpower the lines of the car.....more the wheels are the feature rather than enhance the car.

Often a rim that one doesnt like on its own, blends very well with the car.

Too many cars are spoiled by nice rims that dont go with the car.

 

True but in this case I know the look I want and won't settle, reason I didn't buy the Legends. I like the TTII's on the car now but the 15" tires suck for auto cross and everyone has TT II's. I don't mind spending the extra money if I have too but want to make darn sure the wheels are my style before I do.

 

One thing I notice with the late 60s early 70s American muscle cars is the curved /rounded type rims tend to flow with the curved lines of the cars of that era...which I suppose why the crager SS where released in 69 and still around..and other popular similar designs are also....
The rims that are more square in design just dont look quite right, espec with vert low profile tyres....one sees the wheels before the car, if u know what I mean???

 

I recommend increasing your budget then, and photoshop different wheels on your car. It's something you have to live with a long time.

I went with polished Rushforth Livewires 18x8 and 18x10 (mini-tubbed)

 

I don't have a link to them, but also check out Showwheels Streeters. They are very reasonable price and a classic look.

 

Discount Tire has some decent ones. I kinda like the new BG Rodworks Gasser for $600 a set. The color and trim level of the car comes into play for wheel finish. Some just don't look right together while the same wheels may look awesome on something else.

Their MB Wheels brand have some decents ones reasonably as well but the chrome ones have gone throught the roof. The gunmetal with machined lip Old School looks pretty good. Sometimes wish I'd gotten those instead of chrome.

Awesome, that is exactly what I am looking for. With a black car and chrome trim I think chrome is the way to go. I have seen black cars with dark wheels and it wasn't my thing.

To The Camaro Guy, I am a fan of the old school look and you can never go wrong with rallies but they are not consistent with the look I am after with this car.

 

Schott makes a pretty good wheel.

Those are nice rims. What sizes did you end up with, and are you running stock suspension? I'm running Caltracs out back, and tubulars up front...don't want to go with 18s. Originally was thinking of 16s, but lack of choices will likely push that up to 17s.

I am an old school guy so don't take me too seriously! i get more comments on my wheels on my 69 RS/SS vert. Corvette rally wheels with 67 short caps. Perfect fit and gives that deep 8" look. 225 x 60 fronts and 235 x 60 rears. Everyone has late style wheels! How about IROC Chrome wheels!

 

I looked through every pic on the sight and have narrowed my tire size down to 255/45 17 OR 255/50-17. 50 because they have the same diameter, 27 inches that I have now and can still get the Z rated tires. 45's look a little small to me but still an option.

I like the Foose Legends, here is my car with 18'' wheels 2'' Drop springs

 

That's about the only thing I like about the '69 wheel arches compared to the '67-'68.....since they're "cut off" you can do just a little drop and it makes it look like a lot more since the arches drop down over the wheel. I've only got 1.5" drop.

 

I agree the 69s look great dropped like yours. Mine has setteled more then when this pic was taken and it was taken at a weired angle but I am pleased with it. 2'' Hotchkis front springs and 1.5'' drop in the rear

I was intially worried about going wiith 18'' but I am glad I did

Personally Im a huge fan of the Boss motorsports 338 series. I don't know about the chrome ones though, I like the gray they sell. Go to Jdwheels.com and look at there tire/wheel combo link. They have some good prices it seems.

That looks great! What was the total tax all said and done? Did you go with the same offset's as Steiner? The black w/ chrome looks real good!

 

Thank you, all said and done it was $1304 delivered mounted and balanced. I used the recommended offsets and sizes, no rubbing, handles incredible and a much better ride then I had. Wilwood big brakes are next.

IMO 5-spoke always looks classic. And agree with the comment that you dont want to wheels to get all of the attention or ruin the lines of the car. I have the Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dogs but they are a bit spendy.
