Have a similar thread on a truck site I'm on, it can get interesting and entertaining, think it would be a good fit for a classic car site too. For stuff you did, but maybe not full thread worthy.
_--------_--------

I finally got the Car back with AC, got some more padding for the roll cage put in, took the 15 minutes to wangle the huge Britax car seats through the cage.

So, basically, its ready for my twin toddlers.

Until one decided, from what I can tell, he wanted to be in the Tahoe where he can watch Ninja Turtles or Elmo.

He was fine on the nice day with NO AC and the windows down. Go figure.

I left them both in the garage because there is a threat of thunder storms again.
We had our share of golf ball+ hail last week.

Paul :beers:

Went to buy a 1" wrench to try to tighten the oil filter on the k&N filter since my adj stable wrench just wasnt biting. Guess it has rounded because the 1" wrench keeps slipping. I'll get a mirror in later to see for myself when I can't get burned.

pulled the power steering pump because it decided to leak. Thing ran dry on me last weekend, thankfully not too far from home. i think it was just a loose fitting on the back of the pump. got everything tightened but havent had a chance to test yet as the weather is also a little suspect. supposed to be nicer tomorrow.

Ohh you know, just walked by it 150 times while building other peoples stuff.... It has a cage waiting, TT 6.0 waiting, amongst a million other parts. Fortunately i have others to drive, but this is my baby.

Woke up, watched the weather(you already know where this is going) local weather says slight chance of rain, all the major stuff has passed, Tulsa might get a shower in the next hour, otherwise everything will happen west of Tulsa County.

So I drive the bird to work. All is well, the showers never showed up. So I see some clouds to the east( I work east of Tulsa)..hmmmm....hour later, I see rain east of Tulsa. Uh oh. I check weather channel app and look at radar, its raining at home. Oh well, says it will end soon and temp will shoot up, roads will be dry by the time I get there. 10% of any more rain. I'm about ready to leave work and the skies are darkening. Weather channel future radar says it will be fine. I walk out to my car, the skies were mostly blue 15 minutes before. The sun is gone and its a complete downpour. Before I get home I hit a spot with flash flood inducing rain. I get home, spend almost an hour drying and quick waxing my car. ITS STILL POURING RAIN AS I TYPE.

So yeah, only 10% chance of light showers, west of Tulsa today.

Some of the looks I got driving it today were priceless though

Found some leaks to fix. Oil pan bolt washer is about gone, ordered a new one, and some gear oil on the speedo cable, coming from the cable housing on the GV OD, so I'm just going to use RTV. Figure I'll put Redline MT-85 in the GearVenders while I'm at it(redline says its a directly replacement for what GV specifies), and as soon as I get the electric oil extractor I'll put some fresh Royal Purple I also ordered in the 9".

Need to buy another set of jack stands, and a new jack. My low profile jack cant get the bird high enough. Wondering how I made it this long without 4 stands.

Replaced the RS Rocker trim on doors and quarters, both sides. Found out that the PO did not drill the doors properly and had all kinds of jacked up screws, bolts, and double sided tape, holding the original trim in place. The template that you buy from the Camaro houses is worthless, as it was off about 1/4". Much easier to use a digital caliper for measurements. Turned out nicely.

REALLY dispising the 4" exhaust. Its too close to the speedometer gear housing for me to be able to get a grip and wrangle it out. I was able at get the cable unscrewed and removed, pretty sure that is the leak. Put some RTV for a new "seal" around the inside of the cable fitting. If that doesn't do it (or I broke the. Seal on the housing while working on it), I'm taking it to a transmission shop with a lift, they should be able to get to it or have a trick to)

Oh and that exhaust....it's right by where the power lines connect to the GV. After I got it from the AC shop it has been acting erratic for the first 5 minutes of driving when the OD is on(going in and out of OD randomly). After that it works fine. I read the ECU could be confused if system voltage was low, and the battery died when I picked it up so figure I'll try to reboot. Problem is you have to reboot by pulling the ground wire off the terminal while the car is running.

I turned the key to on(but not running), flipped the OD switch to turn "on" the GV, and then did it. Hope that works, I REALLY don't want to warm up the car, jack up the car, and then try to squeeze my hand in between the 1 inch of space between the GV and the exhaust.

Oh, while I was under there I determined the car's entire floor looks nearly perfect. Not even a scratch on the underfloor paint. Figure that it was replaced.

I was going to go get some 110 race gas. Its $47 per 5 gallons, ($31 more than 5 gal of 91 gas) and mixed with 14 gallons of 91 would give me a tank if 96. I would then use 3 gallons of that driving back home.(plus the gas to get there, really isn't worth it!)

If I put in a can of Torco in my 19 gallon tank for $20, I'll get 95+

Ummmm......

I drove the 77z28 to a local charity show in off and on light showers, and on the way home picked up parts for the wife's pilot since I was out. I love rolling into the honda dealer with that car lol. Dse delay wipers work great, and the whole car got a nice griots detailer wipe down when I got home so it's cleaner now than when I left today lol

Now watching LLWS US championship game. I expect Vegas to win it all.

tore out the stock intake, exhaust and exhaust manifold. also had to pull the power steering pump to get there. it's now abour 6 inches wide and 20 inches tall. amazing how thing the inline 6 is...

tried to put in new flowtech headers. didn't work. i knew i was going to have to modify them to work but they interfere in too many places to use them. hits the power steering pump, main unit, and hangs 6 inches too low.

so i ordered langdon's cast split headers. they're 2.25 inch so i'll need to increase the pipe just past them and before my 2.5x2.5 y-pipe and 2.5 mid pipe.

ahh... the joys of modifying a not-so-often modified engine...

i'm just hoping that after i do this i can break my tires loose...

Up on jacks, doing yearly maintenance after power tour, seems nothing ever breaks on this car, just clean and tweak. Looking for Goodguys in Ft Worth soon. Biloxi then head to Vegas for Sema show.
