I have the upper and lower control arms from CPP with the stock disc brake spindles, my grandpa went ahead and put them on today but pointed out how there was a gap left?

Is this normal or it possible we did something wrong?

Why did he put the ball joint under the A-arm plate? Did he do this to make the spindle appear taller? I thought the standard way was supposed to be with the ball joint above the plate, so it could not fall off if the bolts broke. I am using the Proforged tall upper ball joints on my aftermarket arms and they have a much larger gap than yours. As long as the tapered portion of the ball joint fits the taper of the spindle, the nut should torque properly and not be an issue.

That's the way they came from CPP, we just bolted it right in! He hasn't had a chance to work on the car but hopefully today we'll get some time in and figure it out.

Thanks, I looked on ebay and it looks like most of their upper a-arms come with the ball joint under the a-arm plate. When I got mine, the ball joints were so crappy I replaced them with Proforged tall ball joints for improved camber curve. I mounted them above the a-arm plate like the factory, Detroit Speed, and Global West mount them. I guess if the attaching bolts are true Grade 8, and they are not over-torqued and weakened, they will be OK. I was just surprised when I saw your picture.
