Its not a camaro but figured it would be interesting to see if anyone knows anything about this car.I just took ownership of it.

Its a 1938 Cadillac Lemo, flathead V8 engine.Been stored in a warehouse for most of its life. It has the original wheels tires and spare. It has a 1940 Tennessee tag on it. Interior is very good. Paint is old and looks original. To me it needs some 180 grit ran over it at a good basecoat clearcoat poured on it.

I purchased the car because it looked so cool. It looks like something Al Capone would have rode in. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like something i would want too! No idea on price though, sorry.

I'm hoping someone has some insight into this type of car. I'm sure the value is no where near the " coolness" factor. I've got to start looking for parts suppliers soon.

If you can get away with repairs and cleaning it up it will be more valuable as a survivor with a ton of patina than a restored car after the expense of paint etc. Not a lot of aftermarket restoration parts so get use to old school swapmeeting and searching for parts.

I agree totally. I just got the body tag numbers and started researching them. It is a style number 38-7519F and it is # 31 of only 34 cars built under this style.THe trim # is 3532 and I'm still working on this. The body number is 31 which designates the prodution number.

Even though its not a camaro, it sure is exciting to have a piece of history like this.Never thought I would own a Caddy.

I got out my trusty old cars price guide and can not find a limo listed for 1938. Do you know what the wheel base is? It would be either 124,127,132 or 141 inch. Also how many passengers? Is there a division between the driver and passenger compartment?

So far from what I have found today it is a 141" wheel base. It is a 5 passenger Imperial Lemo. The Style number seems to be significant 38-7519F. The devider I'm not sure of. It is in transit to me this week with delivery set to be on Saturday. The transport sent detailed pics while picking up and loading.Let me know if you need any other info. Thanks for the help.

I can email you some pics of it in the trailer if you could post them.

A 4 dr imp touring sedan goes from 6,070 for a #5, 22,770 for #3 and 50,600 for a #1. Dennis has the right idea about trying to get it operable and not restoring it. It should have low miles if it was only driven 2 years, and would generate a lot of interest at shows.

I believe Mark is going to post some pics of it in the transporter for me. I sent him the pics this morning. Thanks Mark.

My parents collect those real old cars... I would do as little as possible to it, to a collector it is probably the most valuable to them how it sits. BTW this is a vehicle that could make it to Pebble... My father in law has a unrestored 38 Packard, he also has a 1905 Cadillac. One cylinder horizontal, we did a ring job on it a few years ago. He also has a 1925 Lincoln dual cowl 7 pass Open Touring... it has Delco gauges... Delco was an independent company at that time!

Style #7519F, imperial (formal) sedan (limousine) for 7 passengers
[ 34 units built ]

It's got a V16

Killer... glass divider etc... this was someone that was LOADED... I wonder if Cadillac has those records?
I will bet the car was built to order and because there are so few Cadillac may know the original buyer.

the one for $150k is a 1940 convertible sedan, open cars bring WAY more than closed cars:

please DO NOT "restore" that car ... patina rules

here is a collection of "file photos" of 1938 Limos
