Welding would put heat into it and may actually weaken the metal if done wrong..... Buy a new or good used one. :yes:

 

Grind a "V" along the crack and weld it, or have it done properly by a welder!
Like the welded up subframe, it's mild steel, so welding wont hurt the A arm.

 

it can be done like Steve suggested and by a very experienced welder-however when it comes to steering or suspension parts my advice would be buy new-why take chances on the important stuff ? might save you a lot of headaches down the road. just my .02 worth.

I thought the new repro control arms were imported.

Anyway, a good secondhand OE arm would be just fine.

 

It's a good time to consider Tubular upper A arms if you want to improve your suspension at the same time.

Since I should not weld the control arm myself I ordered a new OE type from D&R that is made by Hugger Performance.Thank's for your help.

The tubular control arms would be a nice upgrade,but I am unsure which brand to get.Summit has a pair of Mcgaughy's tubular control arms that have 5 degrees of positive camber built in for $369.95.

The Camaro has the original coil springs that still have the YW tag attached.An upgrade may be needed.I am going to replace the sway bar with one of the 1 1/8" size units.Thanks,Tim
