I am installing a disc brake conversion on my '67 and have decided to replace the upper and lower ball joints.
While replacing the left upper ball joint I have noticed a crack in the control arm where the ball joint mounts.
The 2" crack runs from the outer right rivet hole,to the right and then turns inside toward the subframe.

Would it be alright to repair the crack by welding it,or should I replace the control arm?

it can be done like Steve suggested and by a very experienced welder-however when it comes to steering or suspension parts my advice would be buy new-why take chances on the important stuff ? might save you a lot of headaches down the road. just my .02 worth.

Since I should not weld the control arm myself I ordered a new OE type from D&R that is made by Hugger Performance.Thank's for your help.

The tubular control arms would be a nice upgrade, but I am unsure which brand to get.Summit has a pair of Mcgaughy's tubular control arms that have 5 degrees of positive camber built in for $369.95.

The Camaro has the original coil springs that still have the YW tag attached. An upgrade may be needed.I am going to replace the sway bar with one of the 1 1/8" size units. Thanks,Tim
