i have searched the entire block on my 69 ss 396 vert and can't seem to find a partial vin. all othe #s on block match the car. not on the front pad or near the oil filter unless i have to remove filter first. any advise appreciated. motor has never been out for sure

found it on block near bell housing. thanks everyone. and yes they do match.-rick
